a little vanity is good :)

YAY! the bathroom gets a little more TLC! The beginning of the vanity was installed, after Drew persevered and managed to get my laundry chute idea realised. What a pain to install that was! The cabinetmakers have to go and cut the top to suit the final installation measurements, taking into account the laundry chute opening as well. A little bit closer...

the return of the bathroom!

yay! we have movement again! Adam the Setter came around on the weekend, and finished the setting of the plasterboard and the cornice in the bathroom. Now we can paint it, then there's the vanity yet to come, then the tiling, then the hardware, the door hanging, and general finishing pieces for the bathroom. Closer, closer...

As you can see, we're doing the bathroom door (and other doors facing into the little hallway) a little differently - to let light through and generally lighten up that area. Plus it's a bit out of the norm - privacy still maintained, but not your normal internal doors.

The bane of the bathroom

Ah, yes, the bathroom window ... what to do, what to do. Well, we decided to fill it in with glass bricks as the glass shower screen cuts straight through a third of it, and that's a decent solution. We're not sold on the metal grille and that will be replaced by something finer and more appropriate. More hard work (and swear words) on Drew's behalf! The pattern isn't my choice, but seeing how Drew was doing the installation (and I got to choose the paint colours) he got to choose the design. Give and take! :)

no more holes

I know, I know... stunning picture... but it's what it represents - hard work (from Drew), long delays (from the first two stupid plumbers).

where's you wheelie bin?

no timid little wheelie bins here - another full mini-skip load for us! 6m3 full... Drew put the leftover plaster sheets in for me, but after that it was all me! Filled it up with mainly bricks, concrete, timber, but also a tyre, the inner steel tub from a washing machine, an overhead kitchen cupboard and more. Good exercise though!!

A much cleaner carport as a result - still a lot of Grandad Hillary's ubiquitous concrete and bricks leftover... his type of landscaping... but we're aiming to break it down and use that as fill later on.

Painting inside is all done - next is the bathroom vanity, the electrical fit-off (big job), bathroom window issue to be sorted, tiling, bathroom fit-off, and then, maybe then, the floors to be done. Then we can put the kitchen back in, and then look at moving in! Will still be some other minor jobs - like the wardrobe innards - but we can move in and work on those as we go! Closer, closer...

a bright spark(y)

Drew wired up all the GPOs in the house... General Power Outlets to us plebs, Gippos to those in the industry. Handy having someone who can do the electricals... means we certainly have got our power and lights covered!

And this electrician comes air-conditioned too!

All outlets bagged and tagged so they can't get in the way of round two of the painting (which comes after the patching of certain divets and sanding of certain bumps etc).
